The colour palette is exuberant and uplifting with tropical shades of coral pink, mandarin, angelica green and ocean blue set against neutrals of black, white sand and champagne. Prints to reflect the Mayan surroundings, most notably in a bold wood-print inspired design of papaya and guava fruits or in huge hand painted florals in bright or pastel versions. The mid century minimalism of Tulum architecture is referenced in an op-art graphic print whilst the beauty of coral is captured a bold abstract pattern. Dea Kudibal’s signature silk is, as always, centre stage but light as-a-feather crinkle georgette is just right for balmy evenings and linen provides a welcome element of cool-to- the-touch texture.

Summer is the time for carefree afternoons in the sun that drift seamlessly into warm evening parties and what better place to celebrate that most easygoing of seasons than the Mexican Riviera? For the Flash summer collection 2024, Dea Kudibal absorbed the laid-back vibe of Tulum with its bright tropical colours, bold modern architecture and luxurious bohemian style to create a collection that celebrates the joy of relaxed yet glamorous living.
A sense of ease runs through the collection with wide, flowing silhouettes that whisper opulence or with slimmer, form-skimming shapes that celebrate a woman’s body. Open backs, bare shoulders and cropped tops allow ample opportunities to show a little sun-burnished skin. Versatility is key: a huge square dress can billow freely or be drawn into the body in multiple ways whilst slimmer dresses have tasselled cords to accentuate the waist. Elastic is used on cuffs and necklines which can be pulled up or down as you move from beach to bar. Silky shorts and wide pants have the same wide elastic to give a sporty yet glamorous look, especially when paired with a super wide shirt that falls into elegant draping.
As the sun begins to fade, maybe it is time for an evening cocktail? Embrace the white party spirit with a one shoulder dress with a single flounced sleeve or perhaps a delicate ecru-on-white floral embroidery on sheer organza. Otherwise go for tropical colour with vibrant shades of taffeta in party dresses or skirts or - the ultimate in jet set chic - an allover sequinned dress inspired by the rainbow spectacle of a coral reef.
